1. Introduction and use cases
Discover what Omeka S is, how it differs from other tools and how it is being used in libraries, museums, archives and universities to disseminate and preserve digital heritage.
2. Theoretical concepts
Learn the conceptual structure of Omeka S: resources, entities, vocabularies, properties, and how data is organized according to semantic-web principles and metadata standards.
3. Resource management
Master the creation and management of items, collections and media. You will see how to structure information clearly and how to work with different file types and metadata.
4. Application administration
Configure your installation professionally: adjust global parameters, manage users and set permissions to control access and editing according to each role.
5. Creating sites and pages
Learn how to design public websites in Omeka S, organize content pages, choose visual themes and publish digital collections or exhibitions.

FAQs
Yes, the course is completely free for selected participants. The final certificate has only a small symbolic fee if you decide to request it.
Not necessarily. The course is designed for people with no prior experience in Omeka S. We start from scratch and move step by step until you are able to publish your own repository. It is advisable to have general computer literacy and it also helps to have a basic understanding of metadata and information systems.
Practical knowledge of Omeka S, a real project you can present as a work sample and, if requested, a certificate issued by Libnamic. In addition, your project can apply for a hosting scholarship and free use of Libnamic Suite so you can continue it.
Once you’ve filled out the form, we’ll review your motivation and background. We’re looking for people who are genuinely interested in using Omeka S in their work or institution — no previous experience or specific degree required.
We will keep your application for future editions of the course and keep you informed by email. You will also be able to access some public content that we will publish on our website and newsletter.
The most promising projects will receive a scholarship that includes months of free hosting, access to Libnamic Suite and the possibility of technical mentoring. They will also be publicly showcased as success stories.
Of course! Many participants are students or professionals in career transition, and we’re here to help. The most important thing is that you’re eager to learn and apply Omeka S in your future career.
For now, all course content (videos, materials and forum) is in Spanish. The Omeka S application can be configured in several languages, but the course is taught in Spanish. The Q&A forum is also serviced in English.
No. Thanks to sponsorship from Libnamic Hosting, we will give you access to a personal cloud instance of Omeka S for the duration of the course. You only need a browser and internet connection. This way we can focus on learning how to work with the application.
You’ll still have access to the course materials for a limited time after the edition ends. Even then, you’ll remain part of our community and can stay subscribed to the newsletter to keep learning.
